For
the past 25 years,
Michael Barker has devised and led small group tours of many interesting
cities - an exploration of all the fascinating aspects of each city
– discovering the best of its art and architecture - of all
periods from Romanesque to Contemporary, with a certain concentration
on Art Deco and moderne - its museums, its atmosphere and its lesser-known
attractions as well as the high-lights, often getting into buildings
not generally open to the public and including gastronomic or at
least enjoyable and sociable dinners - so that singles do not feel
left out in the evenings. The groups usually include art historians,
architects, collectors or just cultural enthusiasts but there is
no pressure to be
any kind of specialist; while the trips have a serious intent they
are designed to be entirely pleasurable and, offered at reasonable
prices, have attracted a faithful and convivial following over the
years, often sparking new friendships. The standard travel pattern
for City Travel is from Wednesday or Thursday until Sunday; flights
normally depart from London.
A detailed architectural itinerary & programme is supplied for
each tour.
Prices in Europe or to Morocco usually
range from £395-£695.
